Summary: A quality assurance personnel is responsible for ensuring that products and services meet the established standards set by the company. Duties include maintaining strong overall quality control of products made by the company adhering to reliability, performance and customer expectation. Inspection of products is part of the job with the obligation to report and document findings. The Quality Inspector will perform production inspections throughout the production process, use precision measuring equipment, review paperwork for accuracy, trouble shoot, and communicate within the department and other departments to produce a final product meeting the customer’s specifications. Experience in a quality assurance department is preferred. Other valuable skills for this position include strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Quality assurance personnel are required to sit, stand and walk around for long hours at a time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and complex blueprints for Stamping and Machining production processes. Inspect paperwork for complete and accurate information. Determine from various sources inspection and customer requirements. Inspect products using precision measuring tools. Operate and Program our Zeiss CMM equipment. Perform CMM inspections using existing inspection programs. Inspect first article/setup and production parts throughout the production process ensuring customer specifications are being met. Apply mechanical knowledge to trouble shoot and problem solve. Prepare inspection reports. Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications and the ability to learn other software applications. Perform setup/first article for CNC machined parts. Demonstrate mastery of ERP system, assist production in the use of the system. Perform calibrations as they become due in Calibration Recall. Process customer returns. Complete AS9100 FAI reports. Perform incoming quality inspection on critical components. Read and interpret vendor certifications for completeness and accuracy. Read and interpret customer and external standards for requirements for non-dimensional characteristics of parts and part qualifications. Investigate Internal Corrective Actions. Work closely with customer service. Manage and perform document changes in the system. Perform internal audits. Train and mentor Quality department employees. Work with vendors on approvals and rejections. Demonstrate working knowledge of GDT, interpretation, and application. Program new parts for CMM inspections. Perform reviews of new parts and revised part packages for approval. Demonstrate knowledge of SPC, generate control charts as assigned and assist the Quality Manager with special projects as assigned.
